Pamela Patrick White has painted professionally in the field of illustration and fine art since 1981. Years of study and a life-long interest in art first led to an award-winning book illustration career in New York. In 1986, she became interested in the field of American history through her involvement on the board of directors at Brandywine Battlefield. She joined a Revolutionary War re-enacting group and soon found that her attachment to history proved to be an important movement in her career. Years of Revolutionary War research with hands-on battle and civilian re-enacting experience has led her to create historic art with uncommon insight. Using authentic letters, diaries, and studying the very essence of day-to-day life, she is able to portray with accuracy the clothing and mannerisms society demanded during the eighteenth century. In addition to the Revolutionary War, Pamela also became interested in The French and Indian Wars, as well as the lives of Woodland and Tidewater Indians. Following Indian settlements along the shores of Maryland and Virginia, she has recently begun to paint those untold stories of our country’s beginnings. Focusing on the nature of her subjects, Pam is able to illustrate them precisely, but, more importantly, she is capable of depicting the emotions of the people. Their joy and pain, love and loss all transcend time and help connect even those who have no knowledge of history to the past. |
