Bruce was born and raised in
Degree from the
major from St. Cloud State College. After graduation in 1965, he accepted a position with Hallmark Cards in
thirty-six years. During his career he worked in many different capacities including paper mechanical engineer, designing cards and specialty products. He was a major contributor to a complete line of pop-up books along with other children's books. He was also a concept designer for cards and specialty gifts. He retired from Hallmark Cards in 2001. Bruce created a wide variety ofwatercolor paintings in the early years of his Hallmark career. He marketed his paintings through various art shows. During this period he received many awards for his watercolors (see attached list). Later as his career at Hallmark became more demanding, he ceased to enter into art shows and only sold his paintings to private individuals. He was commissioned for numerous paintings, both watercolor and oils. Upon retirement Bruce moved to
forward to a fresh new career as a full time painter of oils and watercolors. Artists Statement I try to capture in my paintings the varying moods of nature, from memories of the past and surroundings of the present. |
