As the mother of four children, Janet has had little time to devote to art.  When her children were small she entertained them with cartoon and animal drawings.  In 1990, when her children were a little older, she began experimenting with watercolors.  She took a brief introductory course at the Center for the Creative Arts in Yorklyn , DE and has been painting nearly every day since.

For the most part Janet is self-taught, although she has studied with some leading regional artists in the Delaware and Pennsylvania area.  Starting 1993, Janet became the art teacher and held private lessons in her studio.

She loves the freedom and challenge of watercolor and the process of discovery that takes place when the paint itself takes on a life of its own.  Janet paints old barns, houses and other buildings, which have become a part of the natural landscape.  She enjoys painting flowers in nature and the challenge of portraiture.

Jane has exhibited in numerous art shows, mostly in the Delaware and Philadelphia area.   Her work has been commissioned by local and out-of-state collectors and has become part many corporate and private collection.  Janet was selected as the poster print artist for the Wilmington Flower Market in 1993.  Her work has also been in shows at the Franklin Mint in Media , PA , the American College in Philadelphia and she was juried into the Rittenhouse Square Art Show. 

Janet’s newest print original “Last Light” was selected out of 11,000 artists across the United States as a finalist in the 1997  “The Artist” Magazine art competition.  In 1999, some of Janet’s work was selected to show in the Greenville (NC) Art Museum Art Show.

While Janet lived for thirteen years in Delaware , she is a native of Greensboro , North Carolina .  She and her family relocated to Greenville , North Carolina in 1998.
