Sharron Quigley Mallison was raised on her family’s farm in Southwestern Ohio. She grew up with pet lambs, calves, and pigs, as well as the usual rabbits, cats and dogs. These were her first portrait subjects.
Sharron showed interest in art by age five. She drew detailed sketches of her father driving his tractor and drew landscape farm scenes, including animals. Selling her first painting at fourteen and winning many art competitions during her early teens years influenced Sharron to become a fine arts major at the University of Cincinnati.
After college she worked in advertising art for several years, but continued to do portraits. Occasionally Sharron would paint a commissioned landscape. Many of her weekends were filled attending art shows in Ohio and Indiana.
A move to Hawaii and Japan with her husband Tom and four children, found her inspired by Fred Harris, an internationally known watercolorist. She studied under Fred for two years.
Sharron’s paintings have been selected for numerous special events and publications, including the Calendar of Inland Bay Scenes by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources, the event poster for the 1991 Wilmington Flower Market and the Cover for the 1992 Spring issue of “ Delaware Out & About”. Her paintings of sailboats were included in Wilmington Trust’s 1993 calendar. She has won Best of Show awards in numerous Ohio, Indiana, Delaware and Pennsylvania exhibitions.
Today Sharron works in pastels and oils. She resides in Hendersonville, TN. Across the United States, Europe, Canada and Japan, Sharron’s works can be found in corporate and private collections, including First Union(Delaware Trust), Wilmington Trust, the DuPont Company, MBNA, St. Francis Hospital, Sun Trust, Bank of Nashville and Opryland Hotel. |
