A native of Maryland, Geraldine McKeown has been painting since childhood. She lives in rural Cecil County in the 1855 farmhouse of her Irish ancestors situated on land that has been in her family for 7 generations. She began the study of watercolor with the legendary teacher Ed Whitney at his summer workshops in Maine and has taught watercolor herself for over 20 years. She is the recipient of the BWS Silver Medal for watercolor and a number of other regional and national awards including being selected as one of the top 100 painters in the prestigious Arts for the Parks National Competition. Her watercolors have been featured on the covers of "At the Head of the Bay: A Cultural and Architectural History of Cecil County, Maryland" and "Red Top Boots" by George Prettyman. Her paintings are also featured in the publications "The Best of Watercolor I & II" by Rockport Press and "Artistic Touch III" by Creative Art Press.
