Hank Meier has been enamored with watercolor since he was a teenager in Pennsylvania . During overseas duty in the army he sketched on-location to capture military life, Normandy landscapes and Montmartre street scenes. After his wartime service Hank sketched whenever time allowed as he earned his engineering degree at Penn State University . Later he sketched his wife Mary and their children. He rounded out drawing, painting and compositional skills by participating in evening art classes, watercolor workshops and studying independently using his extensive art library.

Hank became a full time watercolorist in 1986. He was elected to active membership in the American Watercolor Society in 2006. He is a signature member of Allied Artists of America, Watercolor West, AAPL, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Philadelphia Water Color Society, Baltimore Watercolor Society and COGAP. He holds the status of Fellow in The American Artists Professional League. He served as a Director and Membership Chairman of the Philadelphia Water Color Society which presented the Crest Award to him in 2004 based on his award achievements.

He was awarded prizes in the Baltimore W.C. Society, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society and Allied Artist of America annual exhibitions all in one year. He was featured in the Spring 2003 Watercolor Magic, Fall 1995 The Watercolor Magazine issues and a reproduction of an award winning painting was included in the 1994 Winsor Newton Artists Calendar.

He was Artist of the Year for PNC Bank which sold an entire print issue of a commissioned painting. The Delaware Foundation of the Visual Arts presented him as the honored Artist for 2005 at the Hagley museum. He demonstrates painting on-location, conducts watercolor workshops and publishes prints of his work. His art is included in the collections of the Winterthur Foundation, United States Coast Guard, Medical Center of Delaware, DuPont Europe in Geneva, Hotel DuPont, MBNA America, PNC Bank, Wilmington Trust Co., CIGNA and other corporate and private collections.
