Mary Ann Weselyk grew up in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, an area rich in art culture. Influenced by her surroundings, she studied watercolor techniques and figure drawing under the supervision of two well-known artists, Ray di John and Rea Redifer.

Ms. Weselyk's extensive study of impressionism, post-impressionism and the modern revolutionary movements of the late 19th and 20th century opened her eyes to art without boundaries. As a colorist, she added the medium of oil for its rich subdued hues and depth. She also likes to work in acrylics for liveliness and spontaneity. She places emphasis on strength in abstract design, linear movement and saturation of color with interesting patterns and texture.

Ms. Weselyk feels that by removing one's self from some literal details one can express the character of objects and their inter-relationships, show fresh detail, achieve greater beauty and grandeur. No matter how whimsical or perhaps quizzical, she wants her work to be perceived as believable with a delight to the senses, so that a viewer may say with no uncertainty, "Yes of course, pears are blue!"

Ms. Weselyk exhibits her work in galleries in both Chester and Delaware counties. She has won awards in both watercolor and sculpture. Her studio and residence are located in Unionville, Pennsylvania
